For Editors
Lumina Press is an academic publishing managing our journals in an open access model. To ensure the efficient and ethical operation of our journals, it is important to have a clear understanding of our various editorial roles. Regardless of the role they play, they must ensure there are no conflicts of interest in the handling of manuscripts. And they all have an obligation to ensure the journal’s regular publication to the greatest extent possible and to enhance its visibility and influence through various means.
Editor-in-Chief
Lumina Press cordially invites renowned scholars to establish journals and welcomes applications from qualified scholars. The Editor-in-Chief is the academic and strategic leader of the journal, ultimately responsible for its quality, reputation, and ethical standards. Some of the responsibilities are:
- Setting the journal’s long-term strategic direction, aims, and scope.
- Overseeing the peer-review process and making an editorial decision after the peer-review process.
- Handling appeals against editorial decisions.
- Appointing editorial board members and chairing editorial board meetings.
Editorial Board Member
Editorial Board Members are distinguished scholars who provide academic expertise and support the Editor-in-Chief in maintaining the journal’s quality.
- Advising the Editor-in-Chief on the journal’s scope, policy, and direction.
- Identify emerging topics.
- Acting as an Academic Editor to pre-check new submissions and a core pool of high-quality, timely reviewers for submitted manuscripts.
- Recommending qualified reviewers.
- Encouraging submissions from colleagues and peers.
- Contributing their own work to the journal.
In-House Editor
In-House Editors are full-time employees of Lumina Press who manage the operational, administrative, and production aspects of the journal. Here we list three main roles (other roles, such as Software Engineers and Administrative Specialists, are not described):
- Managing Editor: Managing the day-to-day operations of the online submission system; serving as the primary point of contact for authors, the Editor-in-Chief, and Editorial Board; monitoring journal performance metrics; etc.
- Assistant Editor: Conducting initial technical and ethical checks on new submissions (e.g., plagiarism screening); assisting in the peer-review process; etc.
- Production Editor: Taking over the manuscript after formal acceptance; managing article metadata and depositing it with relevant indexing services (e.g., Crossref) to ensure maximum discoverability.
